I grew up in a politically and spiritually confusing environment. This catalyzed a search for truth which led me much deeper much earlier than I let on at the time. In college, I discovered that I could no longer sustain my belief the theology I grew up learning. There were too many inconsistencies, even when I took a more advanced course. I had to let it go. I abandoned my religious faith. I prayed one last time, with every bit of intention, that if God was real, He would never let me go, he would somehow prove Himself to me because I could no longer prove Him to myself. And with that prayer, I found myself talking blankly to the wall. For the first time in my life, it was just me, in a room, staring at the ceiling.

Around the same time, I learned a curious truth that seemed to cut through all the b******t.

In my last semester of Christian college, I signed up for a philosophy class wherein the professor successfully proved the existence of ‘god’ using, very strictly, nothing but the current state-of-the-art in secular philosophy. He tested his arguments tirelessly online in philosophical forums. No one could challenge his Cosmological argument, even thinkers respected in their field.

As a bonus, each week at the beginning of class, he always had some new, vivid dream stories to share with mystical meanings which all pointed toward a deeper comprehension of the idea he was bringing in. The idea, to put it in layman’s terms, is as follows:

If we trace back the cause of everything, we eventually get to a Big Bang event (in this cosmos). There is a chain of causation. Somewhere, it makes sense that there must be a first link; a Primary Object which must contain all of the traits, qualities and information necessary to create each subsequent link in the chain of causation. Even in the case of an infinite chain (which isn’t currently supported by science, but we’re working with pure thought here), the chain itself must be the prime object, which is paradoxical.

This primary object, the ‘unmoved mover’, the infinite source of all subsequent events and objects, would have all of the traits and qualities found in the rest of the chain. Nothing ‘new’ or outside of this thing could ever occur. In fact, it must have all the traits and qualities traditionally ascribed to ‘God’ in any Bible, Upanishad, or mystical text. It would be infinite, eternal, all-knowing, all-intelligent, all-powerful (omniscient, omnipresent, etc.). Within it would be contained All that Is, infinitely. And, along this same vein, it would also contain traitlessness, and have no quality as well. It would be perfect, to an infinite degree, yet within it would be contained unlimited imperfection. Unmoved, unchanged, yet containing all change and all movement.

What he had discovered was the truth at the heart of every mystical tradition on the planet. While he advocated (for lack of a better word) that this was the final vindication of Christianity in the postmodern era, tried and true in secular arenas of thought. This -quite obviously- was much bigger that the evangelical bubble he was swimming in. It’s a pitty that his genius goes unrecognized in that world, especially given its power in the secular world and the thoroughness with which he works.

It is interesting then, and perhaps still lost on him, that those evangelicals aren’t chomping on the bit to get at his work. He has undefeatably proven the existence of God Itself, in the face of those who know the philosophy of the most powerful atheists. It is because the gift he is so authentically and persistently trying to give them is to big for them.

It’s not hard to see how proving “GOD” full-stop is of benefit not only to every denomination of Christianity, but to every religion or spiritual tradition on the globe. Yet, if we delve into the ‘practical’ implications of this discovery, it destroys every religion or system of belief extant on this planet at this time because it is beyond all of them.

It is the truth of who and what (and where, etc.) you are. I AM.

It frees the mind from every fetter. You go beyond, and into pure being; a place where you are beyond everything you’ve learned. Reality.

It cuts through every moral and ethical problem, every political duality, every conflict in the universe. You are totally transformed simply by knowing this truth. No other practice or system is necessary, no attendance at any meetings or gatherings, no donations, no special music or special books. You can do any of these things if you desire, of course.

This is where this truth leads you: beyond all other ‘truths’ and straight to Totality.
