In the Ashram of Life

Your needs don’t change as you wake up. Your need to eat. Your need for fulfillment. Certainly not your need to breathe, or drink fresh water.

It’s just that now you aren’t doing it for the same reasons. You aren’t doing it for the money, or for the corporate boss, or the dead father you’re still trying to prove yourself to. You’re doing it just to do it.

Sure, you gotta take care of your setup. If you’re in a money-driven society, you gotta take care of your money situation. It’s helpful if you have your resources figured out so you’re not relying on the resources of others. Do your thing in a way that supports others in doing their thing.

The idea of “doing” after waking up doesn’t say anything about quality or level of excellence. In fact, post wake-up, the level of excellence, creativity and innovation may be greater than any you would have achieved for your old boss.

If you appreciate high-quality, then go high-quality with it. If you enjoy the process of refinement, do it. All I’m saying is that now you’re doing it for yourself. You’re doing it because you have a true, internal, heartfelt enjoyment of it.

And hey, if you wanna make it messy, by all means! My advice there would be to really go all the way with it. If you’re anywhere near Southern California, check out Salvation Mountain and Slab City, or Eliphante near Sedona, AZ.

Here’s the thing: awakening, realization, and enlightenment don’t immediately change the parameters of being here in society or on earth. It does change your relationship to the parameters, and, most importantly, it changes your ‘why.’

As your ‘why’ shifts from externally generated to being internally generated, your resonance will shift and you may find yourself moving rapidly away from the situations, social circles, and resources you are accustomed to like a bubble of oil rising in water. Until you find your own personal ‘surface’, replete with other oil bubbles, while you are rapidly rising, you may feel alone in an abyss. No longer attached to the bottom of the barrel, your only company will be an expanse of water in all directions.

Then, you hit a leaf! ‘Tribe’ materializes! You go to a festival, someone reaches out to you, and you go from lost to found! You’re all spiritual gurus and you learn a lot. This is a precious, beautiful time not to be undervalued. Then, someone reminds you of the idea of Realization, or Enlightenment.

It’s the only thing you do in which helping yourself is equivalent to helping out all sentient beings. It’s the only true solution to the world’s problems and no one can ‘say’ what it is because it is an experience which goes beyond thought. Only the Self can attain it. It can only be attained in the present moment. But alas, you cannot attain it because it was never lost. The Self which is, and can only ever be as ‘you’, is. And It’s being is what is sought.

YOU ARE WHAT YOU’VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR (THE SEEKER IS WHAT IS SOUGHT).

You, fully in union, fully divine, fully one with All that Is, as you are, without doing a thing. This whole time, it’s been you. It’s always only ever been.

As you know, you be, and as you be, you act. Welcome to the journey of life.
